Quality sports experiences
This code of conduct does not set out to provide a detailed description, but rather the broad principles of acceptable coach behaviour at Alfriston College.
Alfriston College is here to ensure that sport is enjoyed by all, in a safe, positive environment. We all have the responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in sport, please play your part by accepting and agreeing to this coach code of conduct/behaviour at all times.
As a coach at Alfriston College I will;
- Be a role model for positive behaviour.
- Positively reinforce the actions of players.
- Lead by example, insist on fair play and encourage sportsmanship.
- Ensure your team develops respect and appreciation for officials.
- Create an enjoyable environment for everyone, where teammates respect and encourage each other.
- Acknowledge the rights of children and young people to be listened to and to thrive and participate in decisions that affect them.
- Encourage enjoyable participation for our learners in play, active recreation and sport.
- Always use appropriate and acceptable language, never yell at or ridicule players.
- Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting, or abusive behaviour (Be prepared to take off an offending player and/or address any negative side-line behaviour appropriately).
- Give all players a fair opportunity to participate in training and games.
- Take into consideration players' other commitments and be reasonable with your requirements e.g. other sports training and academic workload.
- Complete and submit a Police vetting form to Alfriston College for approval before working with learners.
I understand that if I do not follow this code of conduct/behaviour, any/all of the following actions may be taken;
I may be:
Issued with a verbal and/or written warning from the school
Required to meet with the school sports coordinator and/or school principal
Be removed from the coaching role
Coaches are an essential component to Alfriston College and have a positive impact on the development of our learners. We thank you very much for your time, commitment and effort you put into our learners.
